On Episode 19 of the Montreal Marketeers Podcast, we talk cycling with Pierre‑Paul Schiltz, owner of Cycle Paul, a Montreal institution that has been serving the cycling community for over seven decades.
Founded in 1948 by his grandfather Paul Schiltz, Cycle Paul originally sold bikes, ammunition, hockey gear, and even offered bicycle and gun rentals — a true reflection of post‑war versatility. Over time, the business evolved alongside consumer trends, eventually specializing exclusively in cycling products and services.
Since taking over the business from his father in 2013, Pierre‑Paul has continued his family’s proud legacy while adapting to the needs of modern cyclists. A lifelong cycling enthusiast himself, he’s focused on expanding the brand’s reach, recently opening a second location in Vaudreuil to complement the long‑established Pointe‑Claire shop.
Beyond selling high‑end bikes and accessories, Pierre‑Paul introduced a specialized Fit Service that helps customers find the perfect bike for their body and riding style.
In this episode, Pierre‑Paul shares his insights on maintaining passion through generations, tackling the challenges of seasonal demand, and bringing a local business into the digital age while never losing touch with its community roots.
